Dr. Sarah Carlson

Dr. Sarah L. Carlson is a fourth-generation resident of the St. Croix Valley, and she and her husband are proud to call the beautiful city of Stillwater their home. Since starting her dental career in 2001, she dreamed of one day working at her own hometown practice where she could help care for her community, and in 2018, she opened Carlson Dental Group. Her philosophy is to treat her patients with honesty and compassion, as though they were friends or family. Her professional goal is to provide excellent comprehensive, personalized dental care to the highest standards to create healthy, beautiful smiles. A side effect of this approachable attitude and care is that she also helps her patients achieve more whole-person health and wellness.

Dr. Carlson was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 2005 and before that graduated from Stillwater High School in 1997. Through the decades she has attended countless hours of advanced and specialty training in a variety of topics, but what excites her most is helping people with severely worn, missing, painful, or embarrassing teeth get back a smile they are proud of. To help her patients achieve long-lasting and beautiful results she adheres to tested techniques taught to her by some of the world’s most recognized and accomplished cosmetic dentists, materials experts, and medical doctors specializing in the field of ENT and airway health.

When Dr. Carlson has time free to enjoy outside of the practice and away from the business she re-energizes with her husband Hal Peterson. They share a passion for cooking, boating, skiing, and hiking near and far, and are in the process of extensively remodeling their old house with their own muscle. They can often be seen around town walking their two standard poodles and enjoying time out with those closest to them.

Dr. Sarah Carlson, along with her staff, family, friends, and Greater Stillwater Ambassadors and staff were there to join the celebration!

When Dr. Sarah Carlson purchased a dental office in Stillwater from Dr. Ned Windmiller in 2018, she fulfilled a dream. Raised in Bayport and a graduate of Stillwater Area High School, Dr. Carlson couldn’t be more grateful to care for her neighbors, family and friends.

Dr. Windmiller operated the dental office for 40 years before Dr. Carlson took the reins. Now leading her own practice, she’s excited to continue doing what she’s done throughout her 15-year career: providing careful, complete dental care to her patients.

Two years in, Carlson Dental Group is already expanding. Dr. Michael Rohlf, an award-winning Midwestern dentist, joined the practice this summer. Dr. Rohlf and Dr. Carlson are aligned in their goal of keeping their patients’ teeth healthy and functioning well, in addition to looking great.

“We take the time to talk with the people who come to see us to learn how they would like to be helped and then share options with them that may not have been offered elsewhere,” Dr. Carlson says.
